Thank you for your advice of the 28 September to which I refer.
The Home Builders Action Group [HBAG] is disappointed that the Housing Industry Association Ltd is not interested in the proposed Housing Summit. HBAG will review your advice and decide whether or not to proceed with the Housing Summit. If it does go ahead, would HIA be represented? As you know, the department of Treasury and the Building and Management division of DMIRS have both indicated their willingness to participate in any summit that might be convened.
HBAG has been very surprised at the response from builders to its mailouts and the willingness of so many to support HBAG and its objectives financially, and with their effort. That is an indication that of substantial past and persistent difficulty in the small to medium home building sector.
As explained when we met, HBAG understands that the HIA is a very “Broad Church” and that its representative views must necessarily accommodate substantially different and sometimes divergent interests.
