Thank you for your correspondence of today’s date (attached) to which I refer.
The Home Builders Action Group [HBAG] is disappointed and puzzled by your outright rejection of its proposal. HBAG is not seeking a new scheme to assist business. It is asking that The SME Recovery Loan Scheme https://treasury.gov.au/coronavirus/sme-recovery-loan-scheme should be reinstated as quickly as possible. This is not a “grant” of money and is not something new it is a carefully calibrated loan scheme to assist builders with cash flow problems that were provoked in part by state and federal government policy.
At the same time, HBAG is grateful to you for your commitment to changes that may be required in the Home Building Contracts Act 1991 (WA) and we will continue to liaise with the Building and Energy Division of the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety looking forward to their report to you and the decisions your government takes in respect of it.
